Audi R8 V10 Spyder

Audi's most exotic and extreme performance model, the R8, now comes in Spyder form - and exclusively with a V10 in its topless state.
This 5.2-liter V10 engine delivers an impressive 525 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, along with peak torque of 391 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm. The sprint to 62 mph takes just 4.1 seconds, compared to just 3.7 seconds for the coupe R8 V10.

Accelerating to 124 mph is a similarly brisk 12.7-second trip. Top speed is 195 mph.

Fuel consumption for the six-speed manual version is rated at 12 city, 20 highway mpg. The R-tronic automated manual gearbox improves the city figure to 13 mpg - highway mileage remains unchanged.

Notably absent are the R8's trademark aluminum "side blades." Other visual changes for the Spyder model include additional air intakes located behind the seats as well as a pair of safety roll bars. The placement of the fuel filler cap was also changed due to the lack rear pillars. Changes under sheet metal are focused around chassis strengthening, but otherwise, Audi says the V10 Spyder is mostly unchanged from its hard-top counterpart. Cosmetically, the exterior gains high gloss black air inlet grilles, spoiler lip and rear outlet grilles. Exhaust tips are also swapped for oval tips.

It is worth noting, however, that both the R8 V10 and R8 V10 Spyder feature an aluminum double wishbone suspension which is tuned for higher performance than the suspension found in the 4.2 model.

Sitting inside the R8 V10 Spyder one will enjoy a standard Bang & Olufsen 465 watt 12-speaker sound system, uniquely designed for the R8.

The V10 Spyder also features Audi's magnetic ride adaptive damping system with manual Sport and Normal sport modes.

The fully automated top can be closed or opened in just 19 seconds, and at speeds of up to 31 mph.

Audi Diesel Cars in USA

There was some talk of Audi bringing a diesel version of every model to the U.S., but according to this article at The New York Times ("Audi Hedges on New Models"), it's not necessarily true.

Audi of America's president, Johan de Nysschen, is quoted as saying, "We’re considering the A1, but the U.S. luxury car buyer is not ready for compact luxury...When lighter, smaller vehicles become the norm, it’s a possibility."

Well, that may take years and years because most Americans love everything BIG. The cost of gas is rising and people would much rather fill up their gas-guzzlers than go small and save a ton of money. It would be great if Audi was the car company that could knock some sense into the American public. Why not create a commercial educating us about the benefits of buying a smaller, luxury car?

Audi A4 Avant

The Audi A4 is a compact executive car produced by the German car manufacturer Audi AG since late 1994. The initial generation A4 succeeded the four previous generations of the Audi 80. And just like its Audi 80 predecessor, the Audi A4 automobile layout consists of a longitudinally oriented engine at the front, with transaxle-type transmissions mounted immediately to the rear of the engine, again, oriented longitudinally. Drive output is transmitted to either the front wheels, or on some models, utilising Audi's 'trademark' quattro permanent four-wheel drive system via a Torsen centre differential.

Audi tt Convertible

The Audi TT is a two-door compact sports car manufactured by Audi Hungaria Motor Kft. in Győr, Hungary, since 1998, for the German automaker and Volkswagen Group subsidiary AUDI AG. The Audi TT is now in its second generation and both generations have been available in two car body styles; as a 2+2 Coupé, or two-seater Roadster. They have been built on consecutive generations of the Volkswagen Group A platform, starting with the A4 (PQ34). As a result of this platform-sharing, the Audi TT has identical powertrain and suspension layouts as its related platform-mates; this includes a front-mounted transversely orientated engine, front-wheel drive or quattro permanent four-wheel drive system, and fully independent front suspension using MacPherson struts.
