For more than a month the rumor mill has been suggesting that the new B8 platform Audi S4 will feature a force-inducted V6 in place of the 340 hp 4.2-liter V8 found in the current model. It’s looking more and more like those rumors are true. The ever vigilant Motor Authority is reporting that the new pocket rocket will indeed receive a super-charged V6 good for 350 hp. You’ll also find a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission handling the cogs. True, the new ‘box is heavier than the manual, but that weight gain is mitigated by the lighter engine. Performance should tick up slightly as a result of the modest power bump and the DSG’s ability to perform shifts in just 200 milliseconds. The all important MPGs should also go up. Anyone else find it odd that Audi is choosing supercharging — as opposed to the twin-turbos found in the S6 — as their power solution? Look for the new A6 to get a neutered version (290 hp) of the super V6
